Minister of Culture supervises the Opening of the National Week for Culture and Arts in the Wilaya of Brakna.

– The Minister of Culture, Arts, Communication, and Relations with Parliament, the government spokesperson, Mr. El-Hussein Ould Medou, along with the governor of Brakna, Mr. Mohamed Ould Saleck, last night in the city of Alag, inaugurated the first edition of the National Week of Culture and Arts events in Brakna, organized under the slogan: ‘Your Vacation is Culture and Tourism.’
The Minister affirmed, in a speech on the occasion, that the National Week of Culture and Arts represents a meeting point for the Mauritanian identity with its cultural depth, symbolic heritage, and authenticity rooted in history, along with its creativity that opens up to the present and envisions the horizons of the future. He added that this week has, since its inception, been an opportunity to cherish our cultural and artistic treasures, providing a broad space to renew our commitment to our collective identity, while also serving as a vent for our youth during their summer holidays and as a platform for meeting, acquaintance, and harmony.
He affirmed that the Wilaya of Brakna, which represents the heart of the vibrant nation, has throughout its history known prominent figures in science, thought, and literature, and has made notable contributions in preserving national identity and nourishing collective consciousness.He stated that what we are experiencing today in terms of interest in culture is a result of the high directives of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, who has made culture and art pillars of safeguarding identity and driving development. This is an approach that the government of His Prime Minister, Mr. Mokhtar Ould Djay, is striving to implement through tangible steps that have had a significant impact on the cultural scene.
The President of the Brakna region, Mr. Mustafa Ould Mohammed Mahmoud, the Mayor of Aelak, Mr. Youssef Ould Sheikh Al-Qadi, and the President of the League of Mayors of Brakna, Mr. Bab Ould Mustafa Ould Taleb El-Alim, consider this cultural week an important opportunity for the youth of the region to showcase their skills, talents, and cultural and artistic creativity. They pointed out that this cultural event comes within the framework of the high instructions of His Excellency the President of the Republic, to create a cultural space during the summer vacation and to support efforts to develop domestic tourism.
This week’s activities include organizing lectures on national unity and social cohesion, the dangers of drugs and extremism, and the importance of domestic tourism, in addition to cultural and artistic evenings and a craft exhibition.The opening ceremony was held in the presence of the governor of the Aleg province, Mr. Mohamed Ould Al-Hussein Ould Ajieh, local elected officials, dignitaries, community leaders, security and military authorities in the state, and a large crowd of citizens and civil society organizations.
