President of the Republic presides over the Graduation Ceremony of the Seventh Class of the Defense College of the G5 Sahel Group

His Excellency the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Security Forces, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, presided over the graduation ceremony of the seventh class of the Defense College of the G5 Sahel on Tuesday evening in Nouakchott. During the ceremony, His Excellency the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Security Forces, presented certificates of advanced military studies to the outstanding graduates of the class and signed the college’s golden register.

The seventh batch includes 56 trainee officers from seven countries, namely Mauritania (36 officers), Chad (5 officers), Gabon (2 officers), Saudi Arabia (10 officers), France (1 officer), Morocco (1 officer) and Senegal (1 officer).

The President’s supervision of this event underscores his continued support for strengthening security and stability in the Sahel region and deepening regional military cooperation through effective and integrated military training institutions.

 

In his speech on this occasion, His Excellency the Minister of Defense, Retirees and Martyrs’ Children, Mr. Hanenna Ould Sidi, expressed the defense sector’s deep appreciation for the supervision of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Security Forces, over the ceremonies of this event, which crowned a year of academic achievement and professional training for the seventh class of the Defense College of the Sahel Group of States.

He added that the President’s interest in strengthening and developing our armed forces needs no confirmation, as it is evident in the remarkable improvement in their efficiency and readiness, which has contributed to maintaining security and stability in the country, despite the storms of violence and terrorism sweeping the regional and international arenas.

The Minister of Defense pointed out that one of the most important pillars of strengthening our armed forces is building highly efficient and professional military human resources, in parallel with strengthening various forms of cooperation and partnership with brotherly and friendly countries.

 

He said that trainees from sisterly and friendly countries received high-level academic and professional training at this college, highlighting that it has established itself as a reliable reference in strategic studies related to security and defense issues in the sub-region. as well as deepening understanding of various issues related to terrorism, violence, and extremism. He emphasized that this work will continue, with God’s help and strength, in accordance with the directives of His Excellency the President of the Republic aimed at steadily strengthening and developing this college.

The Minister of Defense congratulated the graduates on their efforts and perseverance in an atmosphere of harmony and brotherhood characterized by military discipline.

In his speech on the same occasion, Major General Mohamed Lemin Bilal, Commander of the Defense College of the G5 Sahel, said that the presence of His Excellency the President of the Republic to oversee the graduation of this batch clearly demonstrates our country’s continued commitment to supporting and strengthening defense capabilities in the Sahel region and to enhancing cooperation and partnership with other brotherly and friendly countries.

He added that throughout this academic year, the college offered a comprehensive educational program that enabled trainees to acquire and apply knowledge, methods, and approaches in several areas, such as strategic and operational planning, in addition to academic lectures that addressed topics related to their leadership levels.

He explained that, despite the challenges faced by the five Sahel countries, the college continued its mission with determination and seriousness to train a military elite that is competent and qualified to shoulder the responsibilities that may be assigned to it.

The college commander also expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to all partners and friends who supported the college, and to the military and academic training staff for their great efforts and sincere work, which enabled us to achieve this goal.

On behalf of his fellow graduates, Colonel Fah Ould Cheikhna, the class president, expressed his deepest gratitude and respect to His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani for his keen interest in military training and the continuous development of human resources in the sector.

He praised the college’s efforts, which enabled them to acquire a wealth of knowledge that will be of great help to them throughout their careers.

 

 

 

The graduation ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister, Mr. Mokhtar Ould Djay, the President of the National Assembly, the President of the Constitutional Council, the Minister Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic, the Minister in charge of the Office of the President of the Republic, the two Ministers Advisers to the Presidency of the Republic, a number of members of the government, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, the heads of the military and security services, the Governor of Nouakchott West, the President of the Nouakchott Region, the Executive Secretary of the Sahel Countries, a number of ambassadors of friendly and sister countries accredited in Nouakchott, and some military attachés.
