Human Rights Commissioner calls on Employees in the Sector to abide by Higher Directives on Vacationing within the Country

The Commissioner for Human Rights, Humanitarian Action and Relations with Civil Society, Mr. Sid Ahmed Ely Benane, held an extensive meeting on Tuesday morning at the Commission’s headquarters in Nouakchott with the sector’s staff and supervisors.

During the meeting, the Commissioner briefed the members of the Bureau on the contents of the directive of H.E. President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh EL Ghazouani, to invite all officials to spend their annual holidays in the country, and the circular issued by the Prime Minister, Mr. Mokhtar Ould Djay, to various government sectors to translate these high directives on the ground.

The Commissioner reviewed in detail the economic dimensions of this directive, starting with supporting the national economy by providing hard currency, promoting local development in the various cities of the country, encouraging domestic tourism and investment, and enhancing social solidarity and integration

He added that among the many advantages of vacationing in the country are discovering and encouraging national tourism potential, boosting commercial activity in cities, and revitalizing small businesses.

The commissioner called on officials and managers in the sector to organize meetings within their departments to disseminate the content of these high-level directives and to ensure that they lead by example.

He explained that the responsibility of implementing this important directive lies with every official, calling on everyone to adhere to it in order to achieve the desired goals.
