The Minister of Energy and Petroleum reviews Mauritania’s energy and gas potential at “Invest in Energy Africa” Conference

The “Invest in Energy Africa” conference kicked off this morning in Paris (France)  with the participation of African Ministers of Energy and Petroleum and key government and private actors in the sector on the continent.

The Mauritanian delegation was led by the Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Mr. Mohamed Ould Khaled, accompanied by advisors and senior officials in the sector, as well as the General Manager of the Mauritanian Hydrocarbons Company (SMH).

The two-day conference is held under the theme “Increasing Revenues and Energy Leadership in Africa” . The conference will address the utilization of LNG as a lever of economic growth for electricity production and energy transition.

It also discusses mechanisms to develop local content and prospects for the petrochemical industry.

By participating in this forum, the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum aims to present and highlight Mauritania’s energy potential, especially the potential of the coastal basin and sections that the geological data shows their importance in terms of exploration, extraction and investment prospects.

Mauritania offers a favorable investment environment, encouraging institutional stability and proven geological data, with the Biralla gas field, with an estimated total reservoir of 60 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, at the top of the hydrocarbon-rich offshore blocks.

The Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Mr. Mohamed Ould Khaled, will hold several bilateral meetings with actors and investors in the energy sector to present investment and natural gas exploitation opportunities in Mauritania.

The Minister will also participate in the Africa Energy Summit in London, where he will make presentations on Mauritania’s potential and hold bilateral meetings with companies interested in investing in Mauritania.
