Minister Delegate for Budget participates in Regional Conference to Showcase Debt Management Mechanisms for the African Continent

Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance in charge of Budget, Kodioro Moussa N’guenore, participated Monday in Lomé, Togo, in a regional conference organized by the African Union (AU) on the continent’s debt management mechanisms.

This high-level conference, organized in collaboration with the Togolese government, brings together under the theme: “An African Public Debt Management Agenda to Restore and Maintain Debt Sustainability”, will bring together ministers of finance, central bank governors, representatives of African and international financial institutions, parliamentarians, technical experts and members of civil society.

Discussions during the three-day conference will focus on public debt sustainability challenges in Africa, the role of the G20 Common Framework, parliamentary oversight, financial innovation, transparency, and the creation of African financial institutions.

The conference seeks to formulate concrete recommendations to enhance the financial resilience of African countries, improve debt governance, and mobilize sustainable financing to meet the ambitions of Agenda 2063.

The Mauritanian delegation actively participated in the discussions, particularly on good practices of debt management, institutional capacity building and regional financial solidarity mechanisms, showcasing our country’s experience in this regard.

In his intervention, the Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget emphasized Mauritania’s commitment to work towards a responsible management of public debt, in line with national development priorities and international standards of transparency and sustainability.

The Minister is accompanied by the Assistant Director of Debt Management, Mr. Hussein Majdoub, and the Director of Accounting and Treasury Management at the General Directorate of Treasury and Public Accounting, Mr. Mohamed Mahmoud Michel.
