Medical Spokeswoman Praises Achievements of Health Sector

The spokesperson for the medical staff, midwife um alKhair Boijel, praised the great achievements made at the level of the health sector since 2019, which covered various vital areas, whether related to improving the conditions of workers, building facilities or providing the necessary equipment and supplies.

In a speech on behalf of the medical staff during the Iftar banquet hosted by His Excellency the President of the Republic on Tuesday evening at the National Medical Center in Nouakchott, in honor of a group of medical staff, examples of these achievements were presented, which included, among other things, the subscription of 2,921 individuals, the doubling of the salaries of sector workers, the expansion of health insurance by 147%, the increase in ambulances from 70 cars in 2019 to more than 260, and the increase in oxygen units from one unit to 19 units.

Those achievements also included the construction of new health centres, the restoration and maintenance of some other facilities, as well as free resuscitation and medical transport and the cost of pregnant women.

A number of demands were made, including the acquisition of some modern medical equipment, salary increases, the payment of arrears, the establishment of a housing fund for health workers and the adoption of a continuing training programme.

On behalf of the medical staff, she thanked His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, for these great achievements, and for his tireless efforts to improve the reality of the health sector in our country and push it to meet the aspirations of citizens.
