Mauritania submits Candidacy for African Development Bank Group President Position

On Wednesday in Abidjan at the General Secretariat of the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Sid’Ahmed Ould Bouh, deposited the candidacy of our country, represented by former Minister of Economy, Mr. Sidi Ould Eltah, for the position of President of the AfDB Group.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Economy and Finance on Wednesday, our country’s candidacy for this position comes in implementation of the high directives of President of the Republic Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghzouani and the embodiment of his vision to empower the country regionally and internationally and support the access of Mauritanian competencies to decision-making positions in international financial and technical institutions.
Mauritania is engaged in an active diplomacy under the direct supervision and guidance of His Excellency the President of the Republic to defend the chances of our candidate in this race, taking advantage of our distinguished relations with all countries of the continent and with the member countries of the African Development Bank Group from outside the continent.
Our country’s file in this race is strong and convincing, which will ensure the mobilization of the necessary support on May 27-29, 2025, the date of the Annual Assembly and the Board of Governors of the AfDB Group.
