His Excellency Mr. Hammoud Ould Abdi, Ambassador of our country to The Gambia, paid an inspection visit today to the Mauritanian Cultural Foundation in Banjul, as part of his follow-up to the work of the Academy.
His Excellency the Ambassador began his visit with a tour that included all classes of the complex, during which he listened to explanations from the teaching staff about their working conditions and requirements, as well as listened to the Mauritanian national anthem echoed by the throats of the institute’s students.
At the beginning of his speech, the Director of the Academy, Mr. Abdel Rahman Ould Ahmed Mahmoud, welcomed His Excellency the Ambassador and his accompanying delegation, and gave a presentation on the general condition of the Institute, the history of its inception and the stages it went through, praising the efforts of His Excellency the Ambassador in developing the Institute by opening the first semester of the secondary stage, in preparation for completing the rest of the semesters, to create new horizons for the students of the Academy and enable them to continue their education, in addition to working on establishing a mahdhara for teaching the Qur’an and its sciences.
During his intervention, His Excellency the Ambassador welcomed the Director and his administrative and teaching staff, stressing the importance of their role and efforts in order to perform their noble mission, adding that this visit comes within the framework of keeping pace with the start of the current academic year.
His Excellency expressed his positive impression of the work of the Academy in general, and his aspiration to improve and develop it to be more complete, stressing the importance of the Institute in delivering the Arab and Islamic cultural message of Chinguetti, and that the Mauritanian authorities, represented by the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, and his government headed by Prime Minister Mr. Mokhtar Ould Diay attach utmost importance to strengthening Mauritania’s cultural presence in Africa through the development of these institutes.
In turn, the head of the community thanked His Excellency the ambassador, the director of the complex and his staff, for their efforts to represent Mauritania in the best way, and the readiness of the community through its office to provide all kinds of support and coordination with the embassy as well as the management of the complex in order to achieve its goals, which are to spread the culture of Chinguitti and strengthen the bonds of friendship and brotherhood with the brotherly Gambian people.
