HE President of the Republic Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani inaugurated on Thursday evening at the fish market in Nouakchott a plant for the purification and treatment of wastewater, as part of the celebration of the 64th anniversary of National Independence Day.
After the inauguration, HE the President of the Republic listened to detailed explanations from the technical staff of the plant on how it works and how it treats and purifies water and industrial water.
This facility consists of:
– A 9-kilometer-long sewage network to treat wastewater and water from factories.
– A water treatment plant with two capacities, the first with a capacity of 400 cubic meters for domestic water, and the second with a capacity of 2700 cubic meters for water from fish cleaning, in addition to its ability to discharge treated water into the sea through a pipe 1150 meters long and 12 meters deep, so that the process takes place in conditions that do not negatively affect the environment or the beach.
– A laboratory to analyze and monitor the treated water before it is used again.
– A 275 kVA backup generator.
The cost of this project was about six million dollars mobilized by the government with the support of the World Bank under the Regional Fishing Program for West Africa.
