The National Youth Council organised on Monday at its headquarters in Nouakchott a seminar entitled “Empowering Youth: Opportunities and Challenges”.
This seminar, which is part of the activities commemorating the International Youth Day, aims to create a framework for discussing the reality of youth in light of the efforts made to empower them and enhance their role in various development fields.
In a speech on the occasion, the Secretary-General of the National Youth Council, Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Mokhtar Ismail, praised the great care given by the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, to empowering youth and enhancing their role in various development sectors, noting that this attention is evident in the plans and programs dedicated to empowering youth during the current mission.
He stressed the importance of the civil service for young people as it is a strong lever and a sophisticated means to empower young people by consolidating the importance of volunteer work, civic education, and encouraging young people to participate in all formal and informal activities.
He explained that the National Youth Council will always be on the front lines in order to achieve all the demands of young people, promote them, train, employ and involve them.
The seminar was attended by a large group of doctors, intellectuals, businessmen and some members of the National Youth Council.
