With the participation of Mauritania : 17th Congress of the Assembly of African Attorneys General kicks off in Morocco

The seventeenth conference of the Assembly of African Attorneys General kicked off in Marrakech, Morocco, on Thursday, with the participation of Mauritania along with 33 African countries.
The conference began its work by discussing and adopting the decisions of the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Assembly of African Attorneys General, to develop the work of the prosecution and prosecution agencies in the African continent and to enhance areas of cooperation among them.
The conferees elected Kenya President of the Assembly and the Kingdom of Morocco as Secretary-General for a renewable term of two years and endorsed a proposal to establish Morocco as the permanent headquarters of the Association of African Prosecutors.
In a speech on the occasion, the President of the Public Prosecution of the Kingdom of Morocco, Hassan Daki, said that the conference will discuss over three days many issues related to the development of institutional building of the association and the strengthening of its field of work, and dedicates the association’s leadership as an African space for dialogue, exchange of experiences, expertise and best practices, and joint work to raise the level of public prosecutions and public prosecution and develop the capabilities of its members in a way that enables them to carry out the tasks entrusted to them in the best way.
He pointed out that the international symposium held on the occasion of the meeting under the title “Environmental Crime and the Role of the Judiciary in Combating it” deals with topics aimed at highlighting the efforts of public prosecutions in African countries in the field of combating environmental crime, and to raise the challenges and constraints facing law enforcement agencies, in addition to highlighting the role played by the judiciary in our countries in order to ensure environmental protection and achieve the necessary deterrence against anyone who violates the controls governing respect for the environment.
The conference and symposium will be attended by 88 participants from prosecutors, prosecutors and experts from: the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the European Network of Agents for the Environment, the Council of Europe, the International Association of Prosecutors, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and the Administrative Tribunal of the African Union.
