Minister of Foreign Affairs Receives OIF Electoral Observation Mission

On 27 June, in Nouakchott, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, received a mission from the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), led by Ms. Myriam Mahamat Nour, to monitor the 29 June presidential elections.

During the meeting, which took place at the request of the mission, the minister thanked the OIF for its interest in supporting the presidential elections in our country, stressing that the Mauritanian government

has taken all the measures and mobilized the institutional and logistical means necessary for this electoral event to take place in the best conditions.

He further affirmed the government’s openness to all recommendations that the mission could formulate in this regard as a contribution to strengthening the components of the rule of law and the promotion of transparency, integrity,

and freedom of expression in the service of global, just, and sustainable development in an atmosphere of security and stability.

In turn, the OIF mission expressed its appreciation of the efforts made by Mauritania in this area, emphasizing its availability to provide support and assistance to ensure the success of the electoral operation.
