Presidential candidate Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani said that over the past five years, Mauritania has made significant achievements despite regional and international challenges.

He added, in an electoral rally held Sunday evening in Aioun, capital of Hodh El Gharbi, that these achievements include the security and stability of the country in a troubled regional environment, the development of our democratic system, the adoption of a development model that prioritizes low-income citizens, and the launch of large-scale programs.

Candidate Ould El-Ghazouani added that if re-elected, he intends to continue and accelerate some of the axes of the program of the first term, such as political appeasement and the now well-established tradition of consultation, security,  and the republican school.

He affirmed that he is determined to empower the youth, who are the hope and future of the nation, and to involve them in the management of the country’s present to prepare them to assume leadership in the future,  to unleash a war against corruption that spares no one, to launch an agricultural revolution which will allow the country to achieve self-sufficiency in various products, to work to improve the conditions of workers, particularly those in the sectors of the health and education and members of the armed and security forces, and to reform the pension system.

He also reviewed some achievements accomplished in the Wilaya of Hodh El-Gharbi during his first mandate, including the construction of a hospital in Aioun, the health insurance of 77,000 inhabitants, and the regular cash transfers to 12,000 families.

He stressed that in the event of victory, he will strive to extend and intensify the achievements and respond to the questions raised in this wilaya by doubling investments in the areas of health, education, infrastructure, assistance to families benefiting from social interventions, and acceleration of the implementation of the electricity interconnection project between the regions.

Candidate Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani called on the citizens of Hodh Chargui to vote for him again in the June 29 election to consolidate the gains and continue the country’s growth and development.

He congratulated the people of Hodh and all Mauritanians on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, noting that the joy of Eid this year remains incomplete due to the suffering of our Palestinian brothers in Gaza.
