President of Republic Supervises the Launch of the Activities of the First Edition of the Private Sector Exhibition “Expo Mauritania 2024”

His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh AE-Ghazouani, supervised, today, Friday afternoon, at the Palace of Conferences in Nouakchott, the launch of the activities of the first session of the private sector exhibition “Expo Mauritania 2024”, under the slogan “The private sector is the engine of economic growth and the provider of job opportunities.”
His Excellency the President of the Republic cut the symbolic ribbon to mark the opening of the exhibition, which will last for three days, and inspected some of its pavilions.
More than 250 national exhibitors representing companies from various production and service sectors participate in this exhibition, which is organized by the Mauritanian Employers Union with the aim of highlighting the role of the private sector in the country’s economic development.
In a speech on this occasion, the Minister of Fishing and Marine Economy, Mr. Mokhtar El-Husseinou Lam, the acting Minister of Trade, Industry, Handicrafts and Tourism, praised the special attention paid by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, to developing the national private sector, stressing that His Excellency’s keenness to involve the private sector in National economic policies, in addition to the strategies and programs implemented by the government, have enabled the development of a national private sector capable of advancing the country’s economy and bringing it to self-sufficiency.
He explained that the establishment of the Mauritanian Investment Promotion Agency, which works to attract private investments, encourage enterprises, direct and follow up on investments, establish a Supreme Investment Council headed by His Excellency the President of the Republic, and allocate a department for partnership between the public and private sectors, are all decisions taken for the first time in this era, out of belief in the importance of supporting and developing the economy. National by encouraging investment and private initiative.
He also explained that this exhibition aims to develop industry, especially manufacturing industries, in areas where our country has competitive advantages, such as livestock, hunting, agriculture, and renewable energies.
As for the President of the National Union of Mauritanian Employers, Mr. Mohamed Zine El Abidine Ould Cheikh Ahmed, he stressed that the supervision of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, of the launch of the first exhibition for the national private sector clearly embodies the valued care that His Excellency the President of the Republic gives to the national private sector and his constant support for all… This will enhance its position and strengthen its role in the country’s economic and social development.
The President of the Union stated that the private sector is working to embody the vision of His Excellency the President of the Republic in valuing the country’s capabilities, establishing manufacturing industries in vital sectors, and valuing local resources that enjoy preferential advantages, especially the sectors: agriculture, livestock, fishing, minerals, and renewable energies.
He explained that Expo Mauritania 2024, in its diversity and quality, constitutes a practical translation of the level of interrelation between the great interest paid by public authorities and the level of development occurring in the private sector. It also demonstrates the important gains achieved in these various fields, starting with the large increase in the number of factories, all the way to achieving Self-sufficiency in some basic materials.
He pointed out that Mauritania’s accelerated path towards valuing its own resources and working to achieve self-sufficiency and enhance industrial production owes its existence to the vision and sincere directions of His Excellency the President of the Republic, as his primary concern was to push actors to achieve qualitative results in this field.
He added that the private sector has put all its capabilities and capabilities into its contribution to the implementation of the President of the Republic’s ambitious community project that makes people its center and goal.
The activities of the first session of the Mauritanian private sector exhibition were launched, in the presence of His Excellency the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal Massoud, the President of the National Assembly, the President of the Constitutional Council, the Minister Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic, the Minister in charge of the Office of the President of the Republic, the Minister Counselor of the Presidency of the Republic, members of the government, the President of the Economic and Social Council, and the accredited diplomatic corps.
