President of Republic Receives Irish Ambassador’s Ambassador

On 27 February, in Nouakchott, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, received the credentials of HE Mr. James McIntyre, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ireland to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. 

After the credentials’ presentation, the President of the Republic granted an audience to the Irish diplomat in the presence of Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad. 

At the end of the meeting, the Irish diplomat made a statement to the Mauritanian news agency, in which he expressed all the pleasure he felt in presenting his credentials to the President of the Republic as Irish Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. 

He stressed that he would do his best to strengthen and deepen relations between Mauritania and Ireland in various areas and develop cooperation in priority sectors. 

He took the opportunity to congratulate HE Mr. the President of the Republic on his election to the presidency of the African Union. He indicated that he reviewed with the Head of State the relations between his country and the African Union, reaffirming the importance of working to develop cooperation between Mauritania and Ireland.
