On 15 February, in Nouakchott, the Minister of Health, Ms. Naha Hamdi Moukness, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Mr. Mohamed Iqbal Chowderi, the General Coordinator of the Permanent Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMSTECH).
In a statement to the Mauritanian news agency (AMI) on the sidelines of the signing ceremony, Mr. Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Ely Mahmoud, the Director General of Public Health, indicated that the MoU includes the preparation of a training program for doctors, nurses, and technicians at the University of Lahore in Pakistan and the provision of opportunities to students and scientific executives provided by the Ministry of Health.
He emphasized that the University of Lahore and COMSTECH will provide significant support to professional development and improvement of scientific and educational activities, thanks to the university’s exemption of all beneficiaries of these training courses from tuition fees and housing for researchers, in addition to the support provided by COMSTECH.
Ely Mahmoud also stressed that these programs will allow the development of human resources in the sector, particularly in medical imaging, laboratory techniques, and nutrition.
