On 14 February, on the sidelines of the World Governments Summit 2024 in Dubai, Mr. Mohammed Abdallahi Louly, the Minister of Digital Transformation, Innovation, and Modernization of Administration, held discussions with Mr. Amandeep Singh Gill, the UN Secretary General’s Envoy on Technology.
The talks between the two parties highlighted the need to establish future cooperation between Mauritania and the United Nations in digital transformation, such as public digital infrastructures, and the need to integrate a secure and comprehensive approach and develop local capacities.
On this occasion, various aspects of cooperation between Mauritania and the United Nations were also discussed, particularly in areas related to digital transformation.
During his meeting with the UN envoy, Mr. Louly reviewed digital transformation policies in Mauritania, especially digital infrastructure, as it constitutes the backbone of any global and tangible digital transformation.
In turn, the envoy of the UN Secretary General discussed the state of governance of artificial intelligence, the interim report of the High-Level Advisory Council of the UN Secretary General for Artificial Intelligence, and the opportunity for Mauritania to contribute to the final report through regional consultation actions.
