Mauritanian News Agency Signs Co-operation Agreement with Senegalese Press Agency

The Director General of the Mauritanian News Agency (AMI), Mokhtar Mellal Djia, signed, on Monday at the agency’s headquarters in Nouakchott, a cooperation agreement with the Director General of the Senegalese Press Agency, Tierno Mamadou Sy, on the various areas of work of the two press institutions.

The agreement includes enhancing news exchanges, visits and experiences, and working to benefit from new media to develop the news services provided by the two agencies, which will allow wider coverage of events in both brotherly countries.

In his speech on the occasion, the director general of the Mauritanian News Agency said that this agreement, the first of its kind between the two agencies, will contribute to strengthening joint media cooperation between the two sides, and to supporting and consolidating cooperation relations between the two countries in various fields.

He thanked the Director General of the Senegalese Press Agency for this visit, which will strengthen the historical bonds of fraternity that bind the two brotherly countries.

For his part, the Director General of the Senegalese Press Agency stressed that the two countries are linked by cultural, historical and economic relations, and that this agreement will allow the news agencies of the two countries to exchange information of interest to the two brotherly countries and peoples.

The signing of this agreement confirms the keenness of the Mauritanian and Senegalese agencies to promote the exchange of news and all information related to the two countries, which will jointly exploit an important economic resource such as gas, he added.
