Government Spokesman: The President of the Republic is keen on Joint Cooperation Between the Countries of the Sahel Region
Mauritania’s position towards the Sahel countries is well known and is keen on joint cooperation between these countries, given the risks and challenges they face equally, whether environmental, political, economic or security, said Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Energy and Government Spokesman Mr. Nani Ould Chrougha.
For his part, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Abdessalam Ould Mohamed Saleh said that two agreements were signed with the Saudi Fund for Development in the amount of 43 million US dollars allocated to finance two other specialized institutes, namely the Institute of Business in the city of Kiffa and the Institute of Science and Education in the city of Tijikja.
As for the draft law on the loan agreement with the African Development Fund (AfDF) to finance the project to support the governance of public institutions, the Minister said that it will support in particular the Ministry of Finance in its role and mission to monitor public institutions in order to ensure better management of these institutions, control their indebtedness and predict the risks they may experience.
For his part, the Minister of Trade, Industry, Handicrafts and Tourism, Mr. Lemrabet Ould Bennahi, said that the decree related to the special system of wires of the Economic Control Division is divided into three chapters: the general arrangements section, the special arrangements applicable to these wires, and the final arrangements section, adding that in the first chapter the statute of these wires and the tasks entrusted to the Economic Control Division are mainly represented in the proper functioning of markets, the organization of sound competition in them, the assistance and supervision of economic actors and consumer protection in terms of Economic and fraud deterrence, defines the tasks, rights and duties of inspectors, whether principal or ordinary, investigators in the field of fraud deterrence as well as employees in the field of competition and economic investigations.
In response to a question about the recent emergence of a case of slavery, the Commissioner for Human Rights, Humanitarian Action and Relations with Civil Society, Mr. Ahmedou Ould Ahmed Salem Ould Sidi, said that the government has issued a strong and comprehensive legal arsenal subject to international standards stipulating that slavery is a crime against humanity, and the government did not stop at that, but also launched awareness campaigns throughout the national territory in partnership with civil society organizations with a history of struggle, adding that slavery is a crime that is rejected, especially in the current era.
