Organizing Workshop on the Annual Review of the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund’s Interventions in our Country

On Thursday 8 December, in Nouakchott, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development organized a workshop on the annual review of the interventions of the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund in our country for the year 2023.

This annual review of the Peacebuilding Fund aims to identify the results of its interventions and good practices based on the evaluation of closed projects and discussion of ongoing projects, and to place them within the broader framework of the portfolio.

The Assistant Director-General for Development Policies and Strategies, Mr. Abderrahmane Ould Eddedi, said in a speech on the occasion that the periodic organization of this review is strong evidence of the consolidation of the partnership between Mauritania and the Fund, noting that Mauritania has achieved important gains in recent years on the path to stability and development, through the strategies adopted in this framework.

In turn, the planning officer of the United Nations system, Ms. Nazia Kutia, said that the 2023 annual review of the Fund’s portfolio in Mauritania is being conducted in order to obtain a complete review and concrete recommendations.

She noted that the planning of this review is taking place with the participation of all actors in the consolidation of peace in Mauritania, in particular the national part (government and civil society), local representatives of the Peacebuilding Fund donors present in Mauritania, and United Nations agencies and their implementing partners.
