The Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Energy, Government Spokesman, Mr. Nani Ould Achrougha, participated this morning in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in an international meeting of 49 countries to endorse a declaration to adopt green hydrogen trading systems.
This joint declaration aims to establish a system approved by exporting and consuming countries of hydrogen, in order to facilitate the circulation of hydrogen and its derivatives in international markets.
During the meeting, the participating ministers approved the aforementioned declaration, in preparation for the start of the preparation of accreditation systems through a participatory approach that brings together the countries concerned.
During his speech on this occasion, Minister Çavuşoğlu stressed that Mauritania welcomes this announcement, which will enable the laying of one of the necessary foundations for the trade system for the exchange of hydrogen and its derivatives, noting that it comes at an appropriate time to enable countries to integrate the certification program for hydrogen and its derivatives into the legal frameworks currently being prepared.
The Mauritanian government is currently working on a legal framework for hydrogen development in consultation with the private sector to provide important incentives, transparency and an independent system of governance, he said.
U.S. Representative David Türk, Deputy Secretary of Energy, who participated in the meeting, drew attention to the importance of Mauritania’s role in developing the hydrogen division, praising the agreement signed yesterday at the Mauritania pavilion, while stressing that it is the most important summit activity so far for the U.S. Department of Energy.
