On 11 April, in Nouakchott, Ms. Fatimetou Mint Khattri, the Commissioner for Food Security, received HE Mr. Mohamed bin Ayid al Balawi, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Mauritania. The talks focused on the cooperative relations between the two brotherly countries and the means likely to consolidate them, particularly in the food security area. Ms. Mint Khattri took the opportunity to inform the Saudi diplomat of the government’s efforts to strengthen food security, in application of the commitments of Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, in light of the regional and international situation and the cycles of drought that the Sahel zone has known in recent years. She also highlighted the positive impact of the efforts of public authorities in the fight against the induced effects of food crises on the living conditions of populations. HE Mr. al Balawi praised the government’s efforts in the area of food security, expressing his country’s readiness to promote cooperative relations with Mauritania in this area.
