Prime Minister Receives ALECSO Director General, Participants in International Symposium To Promote Women’s Entrepreneurship

On 29 December, in Nouakchott, the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal Massoud, received Mr. Mohamed Ould Amar, the Director General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization (ALECSO),accompanied by participants in the international symposium to promote women’s leadership and enable them to play their role in the consolidation of peace and sustainable development.

This symposium is organized in our country in partnership between the Ministry of Culture, Youth, Sports, and Relations with Parliament, the Ministry of Social Action, Children, and Family, ALECSO, and the “Mouhit” Center for Development and Women’s and Peace Issues.

In a statement to the Mauritanian news agency at the end of the meeting, Ms. Hayat Katat Al-Qermazi, the Tunisian Minister of Cultural Affairs, expressed, on behalf of the participants in the symposium, her deep satisfaction with the

welcome by the Prime Minister, accompanied by the team participating in the regional forum on the role of women in achieving development and peace organized in Mauritania.

She stressed that she felt at home during this visit, which is the first she is making to Mauritania, by virtue of the historical relations that bind the Mauritanian and Tunisian people, the culture they share,

and the longstanding relations of friendship and brotherhood between the two countries.

She expressed her joy to attend this forum which consecrates the role of women in Arab societies to achieve development, stressing that there is no development without women because they represent more than half of the society.

She also expressed her sincere thanks to the Presidency of the Republic, to the government and to the people of Mauritania for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, highlighing the ALECSO role, which

brings together Arab countries and adapts to the transformations in the Arab world, particularly those imposed by the COVID-19 crisis and the wars and conflicts that are spreading around the world.
