President of Republic Supervises Mahdara Awards

The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, supervised Tuesday morning, at the international convention center in Nouakchott, the awards ceremony of the first edition of the president of the republic’s award for the memorizing and understanding of the Mahdara books (traditional Islamic teaching books).

This award aims at encouraging students to preserve the Mahdara studies, which constitute an important component of the Mauritanian culture and heritage.

The President of the republic handed the first award to Sidi Ibrahim Ould Mohamed Lemine, who memorizes the Holly Quran and many books adopted in the Mauritanian Mahdara.
As for the second prize, it was handed by the Prime Minister, Mohamed Ould Bilal, to Nour Sherif El Emana, who is certified in the holly Quran and Mahdara books.

The third prize was given by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Mr. Dah Ould Sidi Amar, to Ahmed Ibram Cheikh El Hassen.

The ceremony took place in the presence of the chairman of the constitutional council, members of the government, top officials in the country, the diplomatic corps in our country, scholars, and researchers in the field of Islamic studies.
