On 9 December, in Riyadh, the China-Arab States Summit began in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, and his brothers, the leaders of brotherly Arab countries or their representatives, his friend, the Chinese President, and the Secretary General of the League of Arab States.
The holding of this summit reflects the determination of the participating countries to develop their cooperative relations and to align the strategic orientations of the Arab countries with China as the second largest economy in the world.
The summit is considered an important stopover in a global context that seeks to move away from the hegemony of a unipolar pole towardsa multipolar world.
The opening session of the summit was chaired, on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and on behalf of the Chinese side, by His Excellency Mr. Xi Jinping, the President of the People’s Republic of China.
The participating leaders, their representatives, and the Secretary General of the League of Arab States spoke during the session. These speeches stressed that the summit inaugurates a new phase of China-Arab cooperation, while praising China’s support for the development of Arab countries and the just cause of the Palestinian people.
The speeches highlighted the common values of the Arab and Chinese civilizations and the urgent need to ensure their promotion in the service of all humanity.
Interventions also welcomed China’s “Global Development” and “Belt and Road” initiatives.
