On 7 December, the Minister of Health, Mr. Moktar Ould Dahi, left Nouakchott for Dakar to represent His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic, at a regional meeting. Then he will head to Abidjan to represent the Prime Minister, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal Massoud.
In Abidjan, Mr. Moktar Ould Dahi will take part in a high-level meeting under the theme: “African Year of Nutrition”, which begins on 8 December, while in Dakar, the Minister will attend an international forum on vaccination to eradicate Poliomyelitis in Africa, to be held on 10 December.
It is noteworthy that Poliomyelitis is a highly contagious disease. It is transmitted through stools or secretions from the nose and throat of an infected person. The virus can also be contracted by drinking water or eating contaminated food.
