Social Action Minister Receives ACERWC’s Member

On 2 November, in Nouakchott, Ms. Savia Mint N’Tahah, the Minister of Social Action, Children, and Family, met with Ms. Kembo Takam Hermine, a member of the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and welfare of the Child (ACERWC).
The meeting focused on the various aspects of cooperation between Mauritania and this legal body and the ways and means to further strengthen them, particularly in the areas children’s rights and welfare.
ACERWC is the first and only global child rights treaty body with jurisdiction to receive complaints against States. It was established by Article 32 of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child. Its first members were elected in July 2001, after the entry into force of the ACERWC on 29 November 1999.
