CENI President, Vice-President Take Oath

On 1 November, Mr. Dah Ould Abdeljelil, the President of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), and his vice-president, Mr. Mohamed Lamine Ould Dahi, were sworn in at the headquarters of the Constitutional Council in Nouakchott, in the presence of members of this council, under the chairmanship of Mr. Diallo Mamadou Bathia, its President.
The President of the Constitutional Council called on CENI’s President and his Vice-President to take the oath, of which the text reads as follows:
“I swear by Allah, the Almighty, to fulfill my duties faithfully and fully and to exercise them with complete impartiality, under the laws of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania”.
After taking the oath, the President of the Constitutional Council referred to the law on the organization of the Independent National Electoral Commission, particularly Article 10 which stipulates that the members of the steering committee take the oath before the Constitutional Council and in the application of the law, the President and the vice-President of the steering committee of the CENI were sworn in today.
He said that the committee is the result of consultations with political parties. He added that it is an important electoral institution, recalling that the members, after being sworn in, no longer represent political parties but represent all Mauritanians. He stressed that the Constitutional Council would remain a partner of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
