On 27 March, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, participated via videoconference, in the work of the 8th Tokyo Conference on African Development, which focused on the issues of economic growth, security and peace in the African continent.
On his part in these conferences, the Minister praised, in particular, the great support that Japan has been directing in the areas of food security, health, and the formation of frameworks in our country, and the distinguished partnership in the field of marine fishing.
He noted Japan’s keenness, despite the many and varied international crises, to hold this important forum in view of the development and security challenges facing the continent.
He also focused on the general features of the integrated approach pursued by our country, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh Al-Ghazouani, in confronting extremism and terrorism, which is based on four pillars:
Development and services for the benefit of the most vulnerable areas, gaining the confidence of population groups, linking religious and intellectual dialogues with extremists, and finally strengthening the capabilities of the armed and security forces with equipment, and training.
