First Lady Presides Over National Excellence Evening, Honors Top Students in National Exams

First Lady Dr. Mariam Mohamed Fadel Dah presided over the National Excellence Evening on Friday night at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott, honoring students who distinguished themselves in the 2025–2026 national examinations.

In her address, the First Lady expressed her pleasure at presiding over the ceremony celebrating outstanding and deserving students from the past school year. She emphasized the event’s significance as a tribute to academic achievement and excellence.

She said the first objective of the ceremony was to celebrate Mauritania’s exceptional young people, who demonstrated diligence, hard work, and perseverance to achieve remarkable results, embodying the proverb, “You reap what you sow.”

The First Lady said the second objective was to honor parents and guardians and recognize their efforts, sacrifices, dedication, and hard work in providing their children with an environment conducive to success and helping them build a better future.

She also highlighted the important role of teachers and educational staff, saying the ceremony was an opportunity to acknowledge their contribution to improving academic results. She further praised the major reforms implemented in the education sector, which she said have strengthened the country’s education system.

Concluding her remarks, Dr. Mariam Mohamed Fadel Dah congratulated the students, their families, educators, and the nation, saying: “Congratulations to us all and to our nation for this celebration of science and knowledge, this tribute to excellence and this building of the future.”
