Human Rights Commissioner Receives Delegation from the Republic of Senegal

The Commissioner for Human Rights, Humanitarian Action and Relations with Civil Society, Mr. Sid’Ahmed Banan, received a delegation from human rights bodies in the Republic of Senegalon Thursday at his office in Nouakchott. The delegation comprised the Permanent Secretary-General of the Ministerial Committee responsible for combating migrant smuggling, Mr. Modou Diagne, and the Permanent Secretary of the National Unit for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, Mr. Mody Ndiaye.

The Senegalese delegation is currently visiting Mauritania as part of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two countries on combating trafficking in persons and the smuggling of migrants.

The meeting addressed areas of cooperation between the two brotherly countries and ways to strengthen them, particularly in the fields of the Commission’s work on human rights and humanitarian action, and relations with civil society.
