Economy Minister Signs Financing Agreement with IsDB for Rural Electrification

The Minister of Economic Affairs and Development, Mr. Abdallahi Ould Souleymane Ould Cheikh Sidiya, signed a financing agreement yesterday, Friday, in Baku (Azerbaijan) with the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser. The agreement, totaling $59.28 million USD, will fund a rural electrification project for isolated areas in Mauritania.

This project aims to promote universal and equitable access to sustainable and affordable electricity services in rural areas, targeting 170 communities across the regions of Adrar, Assaba, Inchiri, Brakna, Hodh Ech Chargui, Hodh El Gharbi, and Tagant. It is part of national efforts to increase electricity coverage from 55% in 2024 to 100% by 2030.
