The Minister of Mines and Industry, Mr. Thiam Tidjani, left Nouakchott yesterday evening for Canada, where he will participate in the international conference on mining to be held in Toronto from 1 to 4 March 2026.
Mauritania’s participation in this major international event, considered one of the world’s largest gatherings in the field of mining and mineral exploration, is part of the implementation of the directives of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, aimed at enhancing the country’s attractiveness for investment, broadening the prospects for strategic partnerships in the mining sector, promoting local content and transferring skills and technologies.
On the sidelines of the conference, the minister will hold a series of meetings with several senior officials and representatives of international companies and financial institutions to discuss opportunities for cooperation and review reforms to the legal and institutional framework governing the sector, as well as to showcase Mauritania’s promising geological resources.
