Opening of the First Edition of the Atar Festival for Culture and Development

Last night, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Culture, Arts, Communication, and Relations with Parliament, Mr. Sidi Mohamed Jidou Khatri, together with the Governor of Adrar, Mr. Abdullah Ould Mohamed Mahmoud, inaugurated the first edition of the Atar Festival for Culture and Development.

The secretary general emphasized  that the Festival constitutes a vibrant space for preserving the national cultural identity, reviving historical heritage, and presenting it to the rising generations with a spirit that combines authenticity and innovation.

He added that the festival’s objectives align with the vision of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, who has made culture and identity a fundamental pillar in his program ‘My Ambition for the Nation,’ based on his belief that building the individual begins with strengthening their cultural awareness and enhancing their civilizational belonging.

The festival was inaugurated in the presence of the Director of the Governor’s Office, the Governor of the Atar District, deputies and mayors, some heads of regional agencies, prominent figures in the northern region, and the state’s security authorities.
