The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman organized a reception in Nouakchott this evening, Thursday, on the occasion of the Sultanate’s fifty-fifth National Day.

In a speech on the occasion, His Excellency Mr. Jassim bin Eid bin Abdullah Al Saadi, the Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman and Head of his country’s diplomatic mission in Mauritania, stated that Mauritania and the Sultanate of Oman share cooperative and partnership relations in various fields. He pointed out that bilateral relations have witnessed increased activity recently, reflecting the shared vision of the leaders of the two brotherly countries, His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, and His Brother His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al-Muazzam, in advancing Omani-Mauritanian relations to the highest levels.

He added in the same context that recent periods have witnessed the signing of many memorandums of understanding and agreements between the two countries in various fields, which has resulted in intensive reciprocal visits between officials of the two countries, the latest being the visit of His Excellency the Minister, Secretary-General of the Mauritanian government, to Muscat, and the convening of the political consultation committee between the two countries in Nouakchott last month.

The head of the Omani diplomatic mission concluded that the high directives from the leadership and government of the two countries have encouraged the support of Omani investments in Mauritania. Recently, a new strategy has been put in place, which is currently being developed between the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Development and the Investment Promotion Agency in Mauritania on one side, and the Investment Authority in the Sultanate of Oman on the other, in order to bring Omani capital to Mauritania within the framework of an economic partnership that reflects the fraternal relations connecting the peoples of the two brotherly nations.
