On 22 October, Mr. Mohamed Ould Khaled, Minister of Energy and Oil, held a series of meetings in Doha with ministers and senior officials participating in the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) on the eve of the launch of the Forum’s 27th ministerial meeting.
These meetings included a meeting with Mr. Saad ben Cherida Al Kaabi, the Qatari Minister of State for Energy Affairs. The meeting discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in energy to serve the common interests of Mauritania and Qatar.
The Minister also met with Mr. Mohamed Arkab, the Algerian Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines. The meeting reviewed cooperation relations between the two countries, particularly in the field of energy.
During the meeting, the Algerian delegation affirmed its country’s willingness to share its expertise with Mauritania through training programs and technical knowledge transfer, thereby contributing to the development of the national oil and gas industry.
In the same context, the minister held talks with Mr. Mohamed Hamel, the GECF secretary general, which focused on areas of cooperation between Mauritania and this international organization and ways to strengthen our country’s presence within the Forum.
The GECF aims to strengthen cooperation between member countries, exchange experiences, and defend the common interests of natural gas-producing countries, in addition to promoting dialogue with consumer countries to ensure stability and security in global gas markets.
