French Embassy in Nouakchott organizes a Reception on the Occasion of French National Day

The French Embassy in Nouakchott organized on Monday evening a reception on the occasion of the National Day of the French Republic.
The government was represented by the minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, the minister of Defense, Retired Persons and Children of Martyrs Hananna Ould Sidi, The minister of Economy and Finance Sid’ Ahmed Ould Bouh, Advisor to the President of the Republic Harouna Traore, and Advisor at the First Ministry Hind Bint Aynina.
In a speech on the occasion, the French Ambassador to Mauritania, H.E. Alexandre Garcia, said that Mauritania and France have strong relations, noting that these relations are based on respect, friendship and working to face common challenges.
In a regional situation characterized by increasing complexity, relations between the two countries continue to provide a model of stability, he said, noting that the international meetings that brought the two countries together this year are a perfect illustration of this.
He added that the friendship between the two countries is part of a shared vision to rebuild relations between Africa and Europe, praising in this regard the commitment of H.E. President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, during his presidency of the African Union, to support a more inclusive multilateralism that respects the needs of African countries.
He emphasized that France, for its part, supports these priorities and looks forward to continue working together to achieve them.
The ceremony was attended by Ambassador Director General of Bilateral Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mohamed Al-Hanchi Al-Kettab, Ambassador Director of Honors Mr. Diop Mohamed Dioulde, Ambassador Director of Europe at the Directorate General of Bilateral Cooperation Mr. Cheikh Abtayeb, as well as several heads of political parties, civil society, the diplomatic corps accredited in Mauritania, and cultural and scientific personalities.
