Seville

HE President of the Republic Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani participated on Monday in the opening session of the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), held in Seville, Spain, under the auspices of the United Nations, in cooperation with the European Union and international partners.

More than 70 heads of state and government, heads of international financial institutions, and representatives of civil society, the philanthropic sector, and the private sector are participating in the conference in the fields of energy, food, and digital technologies.

The participation of His Excellency the President of the Republic this year reflects Mauritania’s deep commitment to just and sustainable development and its keenness to contribute effectively to building a more equitable international financing system that reflects the aspirations of developing and least developed countries.

The conference will witness high-level sessions that bring together international leaders, decision-makers and experts to discuss reforming the structure of the global financial system and strengthening international solidarity and multilateral partnerships in light of escalating economic challenges.

In his speech during the conference, the President of the Republic praised the efforts made to implement the Addis Ababa Action Plan 2015 and the Charter for the Future 2024, especially with regard to the spirit of solidarity and international financial governance, commending the dynamism that characterizes the current edition of the conference.

He reviewed the Mauritanian experience in promoting the mobilization of self-resources, digitizing the economy, promoting the private sector, and improving tax governance, while stressing the importance of external financing to cover the large financing gap suffered by developing countries.
