Nouakchott
The Public Prosecution in Nouakchott West issued this evening, Saturday, a clarification statement regarding the health status of convict Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, as follows:
“Following the statements made by the defense of the convicted Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz regarding his state of health, the Public Prosecution clarifies the following:
At the request of the subject, who announced on May 19, 2025 that he had a tooth that was moving, he was shown to a dentist of his choice. The dentist decided to extract it, but as this procedure is routine and not urgent, the dentist recommended a prior evaluation by a cardiologist, given the health history of the concerned person, which was coordinated by the prison doctor, and after the concerned person agreed on the person of the specialist, he was presented to him for examination and opinion.
After the examination, the cardiologist recommended a set of medical tests, which were carried out today in appropriate conditions at a private clinic of the concerned person’s choice, and after the specialist doctor was informed of the results of the tests carried out, he assigned him another special test, which will be carried out in due course. The Public Prosecution emphasizes that all procedures were carried out in response to the concerned person’s request, and in accordance with the approved medical procedures.
