The Minister of Water and Sanitation, Ms. Amal Bint Maulood, participated today, Wednesday evening, in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the signing ceremony of the charter of the founding countries of the World Water Organization.The charter was signed in the presence of representatives from several founding countries of the organization, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Spain, Greece, Senegal, Pakistan, along with Mauritania, reflecting a collective commitment to enhance global governance of water resources and address the increasing challenges related to scarcity.The World Water Organization, which was launched as a Saudi initiative in 2023, aims to unify international efforts in water management, and develop policies and investments to ensure sustainability and equity in access to water, especially in light of climate changes and increasing pressures on natural resources.
In her speech on the occasion, the esteemed Minister of Water and Sanitation praised this initiative, describing it as a “strategic step at a pivotal moment when humanity faces unprecedented challenges in the field of water resources, from scarcity and degradation to the imbalances in distribution and the heightened intensity of water-related conflicts in several regions,” considering that the establishment of the organization “reflects a collective awareness of the importance of international cooperation to ensure water security, and embodies an ambitious vision for effective and sustainable governance of this vital resource.” The esteemed minister affirmed that Mauritania’s joining of this organization reflects its commitment to actively engage in relevant international initiatives and its readiness to exchange experiences, in harmony with the national water strategy, which is based on establishing integrated management of water resources, improving access to water for all uses, enhancing sanitation services, and increasing sustainability, efficiency, and investment in the sector.
Mr. Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Bouh, responsible for the accommodation of Mauritanian pilgrims, explained that the committee in charge of organizing the Hajj this season has chosen a number of hotels equipped with all the necessary means of accommodation and close to the Holy Mosque, and that all pilgrims have rooms equipped with all the necessary means of life.
For their part, the pilgrims expressed their appreciation for the valuable efforts made by the state (transportation, decent housing, food and health services) to enable them to perform this pilgrimage in good conditions.
