President of Republic Presides over Ceremony for Awarding President’s Prize for Science

His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, presided Tuesday over the award ceremony of the President of the Republic’s Prize for Science at the International Conference Center in Nouakchott, honoring the top students in the national “Olympiads and Science Rally” competition.

He awarded the first prize for the 3rd-year lower-secondary Rally of Science to the team from the Wilaya of Western Nouakchott, received on their behalf by student Cheikh Abdallahi Ould Mohamed Abd El Jelil, and the first prize for the 5th-year secondary level to the team from the Wilaya of Assaba, received on their behalf by student Fatima Mohamed Mohamed Ibrahim.

 

He also awarded the first prize for the 6th-year secondary level to the team from Western Nouakchott, received on their behalf by student Nasser Allah Sidi Mohamed Ettaleb.

Within the framework of the “Excellence Program – Republican Brotherhood,” established at the direction of the President and giving special attention to families listed in the social registry under the excellence system, His Excellency awarded the Excellence Prize to student Zeina Essabar, who was selected on the basis of her outstanding average in science subjects and her exemplary conduct.

Regarding the Olympiads, His Excellency awarded the Mathematics track—4th level prize to student Mohamed Tarek Ibrahim Sidi Abdallah from Excellence High School No. 4 in the Tevragh Zeina district of Western Nouakchott.

He also awarded the Mathematics track—7th level prize to student Mohamed El Amin El Hassan from Excellence High School No. 1 in the Ksar district of Western Nouakchott.

He presented the Physics and Chemistry track—7th level prize to student Mohamed Abd El Rahman Abnou from the Military Secondary School in the Sebkha district of Western Nouakchott.

He also awarded the Natural Sciences track—7th level prize to student Karima Sidi Abnou from Excellence High School No. 3 in the Dar Naim district of Southern Nouakchott.

Meanwhile, His Excellency the Prime Minister, Mokhtar Ould Ajay, presented the second-place prize in the Rally’s 2nd level (3rd-year lower secondary) to the Nouadhibou Excellence team, received by student Asma Abdel Fattah; the 5th-year secondary prize to the Gorgol team, received by student Bedia Saleh Khairy; and the 6th-year secondary prize to the Assaba team, received on their behalf by student Mohamed Mahmoud Yahya Ettaleb.

The Prime Minister also awarded the Olympiad Mathematics track—4th level prize to student Saleh El Hassan Amr Jouda from the Military Secondary School; the Natural Sciences track—7th level prize to student El Khaleel Cheikh Tijani Mohamed Saleh from Excellence High School No. 1; and the Physics and Chemistry track—7th level prize to student Mohamed Sidi Mohamed Beidha from the same school.

He further awarded the Mathematics—7th-year Science stream prize to student Zeinab Yahya Abnou.

For her part, Her Excellency the Minister of Education and Educational System Reform, Mrs. Huda bint Babaah, presented the third-place Rally prize—3rd-year lower secondary level—to the Gorgol team, received by student Nour Eddine Othman; the 5th-year secondary level prize to the Northern Nouakchott team, received by student Mohamed Abdou Mohamed Abdallah; and the 6th-year secondary level prize to the Tiris Zemmour team, received by student Mohamed Mohamed Salem tweeyir El Janna.

She also awarded the third-place Olympiad Mathematics—4th-year lower secondary prize to student Abdel Basset Abdallah; the Natural Sciences—7th-year Science stream prize to student Mustafa El Bashir; the Physics and Chemistry—7th-year prize to student Sidi Ahmed Ahmed Salem El Douh; and the Mathematics—7th-year prize to student Mohamed El Naji El Mokhtar Ebloul.

In her address on the occasion, the Minister of Education and Educational System Reform stated that this ceremony is part of an academic season full of achievements and promising further successes, fulfilling the pledge made by His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, since he assumed office—to revive the values of the republican school, grant it due attention, restore its rightful status, consolidate its role in fostering citizenship, and accomplish its mission of offering all children equal opportunities to unlock their energies, build their capacities, and prepare for a prosperous future.

She added that the sector has witnessed a great renaissance encompassing all pillars of the educational system: the revival of republican school values, the development of curricula, the construction of classrooms, and the strengthening of the standing of all educational staff, including teachers, professors, and inspectors.

She noted that this reform has enabled all children of the nation, wherever they may be, to participate in the national consultations on education, during which they drafted the consensus document “The School We Want,” from which the guiding law for the national educational system emerged.
