In return, the Mauritanian side is committed to awareness campaigns by the animal development sector and professional organizations in the sector, as well as providing those concerned with health certificates proving the safety of their livestock offered in Senegalese markets and facilitating transit.

In a speech on the occasion, the Minister stressed that this visit enabled to discuss areas of cooperation between the two countries, as well as measures that will enable the supply of sheep to Senegalese markets in preparation for Eid al-Adha.

For his part, Senegal’s Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Livestock said that imports from Mauritania have contributed significantly to covering his country’s needs, estimated at 810,000 sheep in 2024, noting that the Senegalese market needs about 250,000 sheep this year.
