“Qatar Charity’’ launches Ramadan Season to help Needy Families in Nouakchott

Qatar Charity Association (QCA) launched on Thursday in Nouakchott its annual Iftar season this year in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Action, Childhood and Family and six local charities, as part of a campaign: “Our goodness is inherited”.

As part of the operation, 40 tons of basic food items will be distributed to 5,800 orphans and members of needy families.

The launch was marked today by the distribution of the first batch of 150 baskets by the association. The Ministry of Social Labor, Childhood and Family will distribute 100 baskets, while the six local charities will distribute the other food baskets at a rate of 50 baskets each.

In a speech on the occasion, the Technical Advisor of the Ministry of Social Action, Childhood and Family, Ms. Lalla Fatima Sadiq Elaraby, thanked Qatar Charity for its charitable interventions, especially during this holy month, highlighting the importance of these interventions in helping families in need.

The director of Qatar Charity’s office, Engineer Omar Abdulaziz Mohamed, pointed out that the implementation of this project comes as part of the campaign: “Our goodness is inherited” campaign, which is a message from Qatari businessmen and philanthropists to needy families in Mauritania.

He said that the baskets distributed as part of this operation were designed to meet the basic needs of Mauritanian households for food during Ramadan.

The Assistant Mayor of Dar Al-Naim Municipality, Ms. Fatima Hamoud Lamaneh, praised this intervention for the benefit of needy families, and thanked Qatar Charity for this timely assistance during the holy month of Ramadan.

The distribution of the baskets took place in the presence of the Chargé d’affaires of the Qatari Embassy in Nouakchott, HE Mr. Fahad Al Dosari.
