On Tuesday at the central warehouses of the Commission in Nouakchot, the Assistant Commissioner for Food Security, Mr. Limame Ould Abdawa, supervised the receipt of a quantity of dates as a gift from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to our country, handed over to him by H.E. Mr. Abdelaziz bin Abdullah Al-Raqabi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to our country.
In a press statement to the media, the Assistant Commissioner explained that this generous gift, which consists of: 50 tons of Saudi dates, is part of the fraternal and cooperative relations between the two brotherly countries, and comes to support the efforts of the Commission in the field of social programs implemented for the benefit of the vulnerable classes, in implementation of the program of His Excellency President of the Republic Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, in its part related to the need to be close to the citizens and provide assistance to them, a program that the government of Prime Minister Mr. El Moctar Ould Ajay is working to implement.
He added that this quantity will undoubtedly contribute to supporting these efforts, extending deep thanks to the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their continuous support to our country, praising the level of cooperation between our country and the Kingdom in the field of supporting vulnerable groups and the most needy, and wishing the cooperation relations between the two brotherly countries more progress and prosperity, in response to the ambition of the leaders of the two countries, H.E. President of the Republic Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazwani and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and in service of the two brotherly peoples.
For his part, the Saudi Ambassador to our country expressed his pleasure at receiving this gift, which is part of the fraternal and cooperative relations between the two brotherly countries, noting the keenness of the leaders of the two countries to raise the level of fraternal relations in order to serve the two brotherly peoples.
The Saudi gift was received in the presence of a number of UNHCR staff and a delegation from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center.
