President of Republic, AU Chairperson, Receives Written Message From President of Transitional Authority of Mali

On 30 December, in Nouakchott, His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, the President of the Republic and Chairperson of the African Union (AU), received a written message from H.E. General Asimi Goitta, the President of the Transitional Authority and Head of State of the sisterly Republic of Mali.

This message was delivered to the President of the Republic by Mr. Moussa Ag Taher, the Minister for Malians Abroad and African Integration, during a meeting at the Presidential Palace in Nouakchott.

At the end of the meeting, the Malian Minister told the Mauritanian news agency (AMI) that he had handed over to the President of the Republic a message from his brother, H.E. General Assimi Goitta, the President of the Transition and Head of State of the Republic of Mali.

The meeting discussed the privileged and long-standing relations between the Republic of Mali and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, noting the presence of a large Malian community in Mauritania and another Mauritanian community in Mali.

He reiterated his country’s commitment to continue assisting and protecting the Mauritanian community in Mali and appreciated the commitment of the Mauritanian authorities to assist and protect the Malian community in Mauritania.

The Malian minister expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic and the AU Chairman for the welcome he received.
