“The presence of eminent personalities at the Continental Conference on Education, Youth, and Employability is a strong confirmation of the African continent’s determination to bring about a qualitative transformation of its education systems, making them more inclusive, more flexible, and more qualitative in terms of empowering our young people and women and ensuring their employability, and better adapted to the demands of development and the rapid changes of our times”, declared Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El-Ghazouani, the President of the Republic and Chairman of the African Union, opening the Continental Conference on Education, Youth, and Employability on 10 December in Nouakchott.
He emphasized that education is the main axis for the emancipation of individuals and the building of societies.
Through education, knowledge and skills are acquired, and conditions for the development and growth of countries and peoples are created. This is why the AU has decided to make this year the Year of Education, as he put it.
