Thirteenth Session of the Joint Grand Committee for Cooperation Between Mauritania and Senegal Concludes with the Signing of a Number of Agreements

The thirteenth session of the Joint Grand Committee for Cooperation between Mauritania and Senegal concluded Tuesday evening in Nouakchott with the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding in several fields.

These agreements, which were signed by  the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, and his Senegalese counterpart,  the Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs, Ms. Yassine Fall, included a draft framework agreement for cooperation in the field of digital transformation, innovation and modernization of administration, a draft cooperation agreement in the field of trade, a draft cooperation agreement in the field of information, media and training in crafts, information and communication, a draft protocol of cooperation agreement in the field of public service and labor, and a draft framework agreement. Cooperation in the field of sports, draft agreement on conditions of entry and residence for persons and property, draft agreement on air services

The ambassadors of the two countries also signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of combating human trafficking and smuggling of migrants, a cooperation program in the field of higher education, scientific research and innovation, a memorandum of understanding in the field of reproduction, and a cooperation agreement in the field of animal health, veterinary public health and animal production.

During his supervision of the conclusion of the course, HE the Minister congratulated the experts of the two countries for their efforts to produce this huge qualitative work in a record period.

He said that this meeting made it possible to make a comprehensive assessment and update the status of bilateral relations covering various sectors of bilateral cooperation, which all reasons call for exemplary.

He stressed that the important decisions and recommendations issued will constitute a strong lever that gives new impetus to brotherly relations and excellent friendship between our two countries.

He pointed out that the results reached constitute an actual translation of the enlightened directives and instructions of the leaders of the two countries, His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, and His Excellency President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

He reiterated his full readiness to implement all the decisions and recommendations taken aimed at advancing Mauritanian-Senegalese cooperation to the highest levels.

For her part, Her Excellency the Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs of Senegal expressed her sincere thanks to the Mauritanian government for the warm reception and facilities provided to her accompanying delegation, stressing that this session, although it has not been held for a while, but it has made up for the time we have missed, by updating the prospects of our strategic partnership in sectors vital to the development of our two countries.

 

She urged the administrations of the two countries to be rigorous and serious in implementing the conclusions contained in the minutes of this committee.

The session was concluded in the presence of the Ambassador, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ball Mohammed Al-Habib, the ambassadors of the two countries, a number of ministry officials and representatives of various sectors concerned in both countries.
