National Assembly Speaker Receives German Ambassador, MPs

On 22 October, in Nouakchott, MP. Mohamed Bembe Meguett, the Speaker of the National Assembly, received HE Dr. Florian Reindel, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Mauritania, accompanied by six MPs of the Bundestag.

Discussions focused mainly on parliamentary cooperation relations and other subjects of common interest, notably in the areas of economy, development, and the fight against illegal immigration and terrorism.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Mauritanian-German parliamentary friendship group, chaired by MP. Ahmedou Med Mahfoudh M’balla, the 2nd Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly met with the German parliamentary delegation.

The two sides discussed several areas of cooperation between the two countries and agreed to strengthen them in the common interest of the two nations.

The German parliamentary delegation also took a guided tour of the premises, including the parliamentary television station headed by Mr. Sidi Ould Nemine.
