Mr. Cheikh El Avia Ould Mohamed Khouna, the President of the Mauritanian Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture, participated in the work of the 135th session of the Council of the Union of Arab Chambers (CUAC), held on 29 September in the Qatari capital, Doha.
During this session, the Council reviewed the activities of the General Secretariat of the Union 2023-2024, its initial work program for 2025, the recommendations of the Executive Committee and the Affairs Committee of the Joint Foreign Arab Chambers of Commerce, the date and venue of the 21st session of the Arab Businessmen and Investors Conference, and the financial issues of the Union.
The session also reviewed some important issues that the Union considers to be strategic, particularly “the inflationary recession and the effects of the economic recession, globally, and in the Arab countries”, “the situation in the Red Sea and its effects on trade and the economy in the Arab region”, “the sharing economy in the Arab world: Innovation to benefit”, “the fourth agricultural revolution: the other face of food security and agricultural systems”, “rebuilding hope: strategies and challenges of reconstruction after destruction in the occupied Palestinian territories”.
On the sidelines of the session, the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture of Mauritania met with several heads and members of the participating delegations, discussing the relations between their various bodies and his institution and ways to strengthen them.
He also discussed with his Qatari counterpart, Mr. Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani, and ways to activate the mechanisms of fruitful cooperation between the two organizations, particularly the memorandum of understanding signed by the two parties on 8 April 2010, which constitutes the legal framework of this cooperation.
