African Union President meets with Finnish Counterpart

HE President of the Republic and Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazzouani met Tuesday on the sidelines of the 79th ordinary session of the United Nations General Assembly with President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb.
During the meeting, HE the President of the Republic, in his capacity as rotating Chairman of the African Union, praised the depth and strength of the relations between the Republic of Finland and Africa, expressing in the same context his appreciation for the special interest that Finland attaches to developing cooperation relations with Mauritania, especially with the accreditation of its first ambassador to our country in 2020, reiterating his thanks to the Finnish President for his personal commitment to strengthen these relations, adding that he highly values the spirit of trust, friendship and mutually beneficial partnership that characterizes these relations.
During the meeting, His Excellency reiterated the commitment to work further to strengthen and diversify Mauritanian-Finnish cooperation and to continue to support each other on issues of common interest, both in the bilateral framework and at the international level.
